BIFFLE LOOKING FOR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS

CONCORD, N.C. (April 12, 2012) – The NASCAR Sprint Cup field has taken to the track in Texas and Greg Biffle is very happy with his 3M Filtrete Ford Fusion.  It should come as no surprise however, that he is running well at the 2.5-mile track as it is where he has led the most laps. Biffle has led a total of 642 laps in 16 starts at Texas Motor Speedway. That figure makes Texas his number one track for total laps led on the Sprint Cup circuit and he ranks third in laps led at TMS.  

In the spring of 2005 Biffle led a total of 219 laps on his way to his first Sprint Cup win at Texas Motor Speedway. Another remarkable race for Biffle came in the fall of 2010 when he led 224 of 334 laps thanks to the adjustments made by his pit crew throughout the race. Shortly after a green-flag stop on lap 287, however, Biffle realized that he didn’t have first or second gear. He had nearly a four-second lead on the field at the time but a caution on lap 299 forced him to pit with the other top competitors for tires. He had to be pushed out of his pit stall by the crew due to the missing gears and he restarted eighth. Despite losing positions during the restart because of the gear issue, Biffle drove his way up to fourth but lost one position again after a final restart on lap 331. He was credited with a fifth-place finish that day.
 

Earlier this week, Biffle expressed his excitement about racing in Texas this Saturday night.
 

“I’m jacked up going to Texas and I cannot wait,” said Biffle. “I love that race track and we have Filtrete on the car this weekend. Texas is a challenging place, coming off of turn two the track really flattens out, but getting into three and four it’s different on both ends, making for a kind of a long sweeping corner. Typically we run the bottom in three and four, and maybe run up the race track a little bit in one and two. Kind of a double dog leg down the frontstretch and it can be a little bit challenging getting to pit road for green-flag pit stops. We’ve run really really well there, I’ve had a lot of success at Texas, and I feel like it could be our first win of the season coming up.”
